Olga subsequently told Sergei the job had been finished, nevertheless. Impressed, Sergei gave him fifty copecks and requested him to come back for such a task on the first of every month.

Sergei paid Lushkoff little sums in return while he worked on numerous little chores like cleaning carpets, organizing firewood, and shoveling snow. He once even handed him an old pair of jeans. Sergei eventually relocated to a different residence and recruited Lushkoff to help with moving.
